I have found many times over this past year to be grateful to the Kong -a rubber hollow toy that can be filled with yummies and was quite possibly the original dog enrichment toy. They are great for keeping dogs’ minds active but I’ve mostly been thankful for those few minutes of quiet when I just needed a break from the puppy madness! While there are countless recipes for what to put in a long, I’ll just be honest here. I’m lazy. I’m not going to make an elaborate treat he can gobble down when something simpler will do just as well.

Tell me if this sounds familiar - you're ready to take the dog for a walk, but first you have to find the leash. And the harness. You know it's around here somewhere...? Or perhaps you're looking for that itch spray or the dog supplements they're supposed to take regularly. Weren't they just right here?!
We're teaming up with a great group of bloggers to bring you this latest giveaway, which is a pet supplies organizer - a great place to keep all the things mentioned, place extra poop bags, outside toys...basically anything you just want to have handy!
Helping out my favorite causes is something that always makes me feel good. But I don't have time to volunteer regularly or send them a nice big check, well, ever! (I wish!) Good thing there's so many easy ways for a homebody like me to help a beloved cause right from the comfort of my living room. (Some of these even let you earn money for things you already do - can't beat that!)
I'm excited to offer our first giveaway here at One Spunky Pup! I'm teaming up with an amazing group of bloggers to bring a dash of fun to your autumn. Enter below and, hey - Good Luck!
I have a new hobby - sewing! I'm still a beginner (although Little Miss 12 told me, "You've been doing it, like, a month now - you're not a beginner anymore!" Thanks, Sweetie...) but I'm having a blast making trick-or-treat bags for Halloween. Once I nailed those tricky boxed corners there was just no stopping me! Of course I've been scoping out Pinterest and my favorite crafty bloggers for inspiration and new ideas. The best part is there's no need to be a sewer to put most of these babies together. Some have sewing instructions, but you can always start with a store-bought plain bag and go from there. Let's get creating! Does the world really need another no-sew fleece tie blanket post? Perhaps not, but I really like this version - it has all the no-sew awesomeness but is much less bulky than the traditional versions. Our late chihuahua Lily loved burrowing under hers, while Mr. Tedy...well, let's not discuss what he does with his! I got the idea for this new-to-me version from Newlywed Survival, who posted about a blanket without the bulky knots. Well, count me in for that! But I started making these for shelters and rescues, and they need to be easily washable. I found the fringe loops tended to come out pretty easily. So I just added a small modification and was left with this version, which I've adopted as my go-to method for fleece blankets.
I love to paint. The only problem is, I'm not very good at it. Oh, this isn't a case of modesty - it's just a fact. I'm okay with that. (Me, okay with less than perfect? Wow, and it's only taken me...well, a lot of years!) But makers still gotta make. The secret is finding ways to make things that don't require a lot (read: any) talent but still come out looking awesome!
I first blogged about these over at Craft Love, but I wanted to share them over here, too! Originally intended for donations (we don't actually have any cats!), they also make great gifts, kiddo projects, or just a random spoil-your-kitty surprise!
Let's be honest - these sort of look like little ghosts, don't they? The Anti-Cruelty Society calls them "kitty sachets" and offers a great hand-drawn tutorial on their website, but to me they will always remind me of little ghosts. But call them whatever you want - cats will love them and they are easy to make with or without catnip added! |
